Our Legacy
Mr. J. Dalmia
had seven sons and two daughters. While the eldest two of the seven brothers
have now retired, three took over the control of Orissa Cement and the remaining
two took over Dalmia Cement. Orissa Cement underwent some management changes
in 1999, whereby Mr. AH Dalmia, one of the three brothers, separated out. He
started the Renaissance Group, which has business interests in India and the
UK. One of the two daughters of Mr. J. Dalmia is married into the Kejriwal family,
who are the promoters of Electrosteel Castings Ltd. (www.electrosteel.com),
a highly profitable, Kolkata-based company.

Mr. JH Dalmia completed
his Masters in Electrical Engineering from the United States and has been looking
after the Group's interest in industrial ceramics. He has also spearheaded the
Group's foray into various electronics ventures including televisions, multi-layer
chip capacitors, etc.
Mr. YH Dalmia is a chartered accountant and looks after the Cement business. He has served as the Chairman of the national body of cement manufacturers in India, CMA.
In addition to
the core business of cement, the Group diversified into Sugar through a green-field
project in Uttar Pradesh, a state in Northern India. They have also made a venture
capital investment in Indus League.

Mr. MH Dalmia completed
his Bachelors degree in Chemical Engineering from Jadavpur University, Kolkata
where he was awarded the gold medal for best engineering student. He leads a
number of companies with diversified interests, including cement, industrial
ceramics, chemicals, mechanical engineering, real estate, information technology,
international trading and investment banking. Mr. MH Dalmia has also served
on the Managing Committees of various industry and trade organisations such
as FICCI, IRMA, CMA and NCB.
Mr. RH Dalmia
completed his bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from IIT, Delhi. He
is responsible for looking after the industrial ceramics business, Hari Machines,
an engineering company and the Group's interests in sponge iron.
The Renaissance Group
The Group is headed by Chairman, Mr. AH Dalmia who is
assisted by his two sons Abhishek and Chaitanya. Mr. AH Dalmia completed his
BA (Hons.) in Economics from St. Stephens College, New Delhi in 1965 and handled
various responsibilities in the Orissa Cement Group until he separated out in
1999. He was mainly responsible for looking after the cement business of OCL
since 1975 to 1997. He is currently responsible for providing overall guidance
to the Group. He also looks after the UK operations.
Mr. Abhishek Dalmia qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1992 and started his career as the Vice President of OCL India Limited in 1992. After spending time with different parts of the OCL Group, he assumed responsibility for the overall management of the cement operations. In 1999, having separated out of the OCL Group, he started the investment advisory business. He was the chief architect of the takeover bid made by the Group on GESCO Corporation Ltd. This attracted wide coverage in the media for unlocking shareholder value. He is responsible for providing strategic direction to Revathi Equipment Ltd., a Group company. He is also responsible for identifying investment opportunities for the Group to deploy its capital into.
Mr. Chaitanya Dalmia did his MBA from International Management Institute, New Delhi and started his career in 1998 with OCL India Limited. He was a critical part of the decision making team during the takeover bid on GESCO Corporation. He is responsible for equity investing for the Group since 2000. In 2003, he took a summer course covering 'Business Analysis and Valuation', and 'Financial Markets' at the London Business School to further enhance his understanding of the equity markets. His expertise lies in equity investing and corporate finance.
